My Life
My Life with a new pick/up
I have bought new cars before when I was married to my first wife for 22 years, but never got to finish the payments with the cars. I was paying bills and the wife was using the same checking account as we had only one. 1st mistake!
Now that I am remarried and live in Deer Trail Colorado., I decided to buy a new 1993
Chevy custom pick/up and prove to myself that I could pay for it. I had it on a 60 months and bought the Chevy pick/up at http://www.edbozarthchevrolet.com/
Ed Bozarth in Aurora, Colorado. My wife today has her own checking account and I have my own too, ever though they are in both names.
It was finance through a local bank in Denver, Colorado. 1st National Bank of Denver at that time. Every month I had paid $377.00 until the last payment 60 months later. Of course the truck cost $18, 560.00 at that time, plus the interest, it cost a lot of money more than it was worth. But it was a custom factory 93 Chevy pick/up with flares fenders, running boards, sidestep and custom paint. V-6 193 horsepower, 5 speed transmission on the floor AC, PW, PS, power door locks and average of 26mpg up to Trail Ridge Road and back to Deer Trail. Wood grain interior and leather seats, Etc. I put a shell on the back of the pick/up to match the custom paint job.
It has been to Santa Barbara, California once and Paris, Texas twice and around the local area from Deer Trail, Colorado to Aurora, Colorado. I had it garaged all that time with the 4 sessions and keep it clean up 80% of the time. Never drove on gravel or new tarred roads. If I used it on a trade they would only give me $3,000 for it and it is worth more to me than $3,000.00 or they give you more, then jack up the price of the new one you are trying to buy, a big rip off…!!!
Now, you ask me, why have I keep the 1993 Chevy pick/up so long. Well it has only 68, 880 miles on it and still look like new, fun to drive and people like it. Why buy a new truck today? With the economy the way it is, it is better to keep the 93 pick/up.
I do not want to pay the banks that the Government bailed out and now with higher interest rates and lower CD rates, screw them. Look at all the on going on with, foreclosures on homes still going on and people with no jobs. The ones that have jobs, husband and wife making all that money are still living way over there means, the saying is? Do I want that or do I need that? No one today knows the different of needs and wants…!!
Plus, I going on 70 years young and it’s not the time to buy a new truck, and that’s for sure. The house is been paid for in 1991 in full, own no money to any one, other than utilities for the house and gas for the truck that I do not use that much. The wife & I have another pick/up, a 2003 Ford Ranger 4 X 4 with the big block v6 that has the get up go and will bark the tires off, plus good mileage. I paid cash for a 2007 Coyote RVs CS130 pull camper. If I have the cash, I will buy it, if not, forget it until I get the cash.....SAVINGS is what it's all about.
Now people today plus family buy a new car every 2 year and always in debt with all the toys and trucks, cars, Etc. Plus, look at all the interest they are paying, no matter how much money they have? If they have all that money for working, then they should be able to pay cash for them toys..!! And most likely might be the problem with economy for the last 20 years. Too many financing with toys, cars, boats, campers, motorcycles, all on time payments….Yaaaakkk..!!
Have a nice day? Ron Schaffer
